We Lost A Great One Yesterday

The AGF family lost a great friend, a wonderful person, and an awesome boss, when Bob passed away early Sunday evening.

Bob married Roxee on September 18, 1948, and just recently celebrated their 67th anniversary. In 1960, they moved from southern Illinois, to this area, and finally Atkinson. They raised two great kids in Tari and Tim. In 1968, he purchased the old Federal North Iowa Grain Company Elevator, and renamed it Atkinson Grain & Fertilizer Inc.Bob, and later with the help of Tim, continued to grow AGF to the company it is today. Bob rarely missed a day of work at the elevator. Even up to a few months ago, he made the daily trek across town to chat with customers, freinds and employees at the office!

All of his employees enjoyed working for Bob, so much that one of his original employees, Ron Thompson, is still working here! Most of his current employees have been at AGF for many years. I had the pleasure of meeting Bob when I was a BHE ag intern at AGF in the mid 1980's. My work career came full circle 29 years later, when I took the manager position here at AGF last year. I have to say that Bob was still the same great person and boss that I met in 1985.

Bob will truely be missed by all, but never forgotten by any!
