The National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) and U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) concluded their joint annual Fall Conference last week in Tampa, FL. More than 100 wheat growers from across the United States met in policy committees to discuss a wide variety of priorities including the farm bill, trade, the National Wheat Yield Contest, and the 2018 midterm elections. NAWG CEO Presents at the 2018 Bayer’s Cereal Experts Summit
On November 06, 2018, NAWG CEO Chandler Goule spoke at Bayer’s Cereal Experts Summit in Dallas, TX. Goule’s presentation focused on the “Future of Wheat” and focused on the past, present, and future of the wheat industry. His co-panelists included experts who touched on the agronomics, technology, trade and economics of cereal crops. The audience included around 40 Bayer representatives and around 120 ag retailers.

NAWG and USW to Attend 75th NAFB Convention, November 7-9, 2018
From November 7-9, 2018, the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) and U.S. Wheat Associates (USW) attended the 75th annual National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB) Convention held at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City, MO. During the convention, NAWG and U.S. Wheat hosted a booth as part of the Trade Talk on November 8th. USW Vice Chairman Doug Goyings and NAWG President Jimmie Musick will representing their Associations and plan on discussing several topics with broadcasters including the farm bill, trade, midterm elections, and other association-specific priorities.

Additionally, for the first time, the National Wheat Foundation (NWF) and the U.S. Wheat Associates are co-sponsoring a NAFB Foundation scholarship. The scholarship will be given to Matthew Winterholler, a senior at Texas Tech University who is majoring in Agricultural Communications. Matthew was recognized at the NAFB Foundation Luncheon on Wednesday, November 7th where NAWG President Jimmie Musick and USW’s Amanda Spoo presented him the award. AgriPulse: Farmers’ Mood Rebounds after USMCA Deal
A monthly survey of farmers finds that producer sentiment rose significantly in October in the wake of President Trump’s trade deal with Canada and Mexico. The Purdue University-CME Group Ag Economy Barometer found that producer sentiment improved by 22 percent from September to October, putting the index at about the same level as a year ago. More than 60 percent said the U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement had relieved their concerns about farm income to at least some extent
